Course description

The Understanding Mental Health First Aid and Mental Health Advocacy in the Workplace course is designed to equip participants with essential skills and knowledge to address mental health issues and promote mental well-being in the workplace. This course combines training in mental health first aid with strategies for effective advocacy and support, empowering individuals to create a supportive and inclusive work environment.

Participants will learn how to recognize signs and symptoms of mental health issues, provide initial support, and guide colleagues towards appropriate help. The course also covers key aspects of mental health advocacy, including how to promote mental health awareness, reduce stigma, and implement workplace policies that support mental well-being. Emphasis is placed on practical techniques for fostering a mentally healthy workplace and supporting individuals facing mental health challenges.

By the end of the course, learners will be equipped with the skills to provide mental health first aid, advocate effectively for mental health initiatives, and contribute to a positive and supportive workplace culture.

Delivery

The course will be completed online via our e-assessor platform. The duration of the course is seven weeks and is designed to be completed around your work and home life commitments. All deadlines for your course will be shown in your online course platform once you are enrolled to keep track.

Our Mental Health First Aid and Advocacy in the Workplace is designed to give you the foundation knowledge to support colleagues with their mental health. You will study three units:
