Safeguarding

Your safety and wellbeing come first

Safeguarding means protecting everyone’s health, wellbeing and right to feel safe.

At Functional Skills UK, we’re committed to creating a safe, respectful and supportive learning environment — where every learner feels listened to, valued and protected.

If something worries you, speak to us.

Our safeguarding commitment

Everyone has the right to learn somewhere they feel safe and supported. Here’s what that commitment means in practice.

We listen

Every concern is taken seriously and handled sensitively and in confidence.

We act

Trained safeguarding officers respond promptly and follow clear, established procedures.

We include everyone

We keep our learning spaces respectful and free from harm, discrimination and harassment.

We protect wellbeing

We support your wellbeing and help you stay safe from harm — in the classroom and online.

Need a little extra support?

Is something affecting your learning, wellbeing or ability to take part? Whatever the reason, you don’t have to manage it alone — we’re here to listen and help you get the support you need.

Report a concern

If something worries you — about yourself or someone else — speak to us. You can email our safeguarding team or contact either officer directly, and everything you share is treated sensitively and in confidence.

Your safeguarding officers

In an emergency, or if you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999. You can also talk to the Samaritans free, day or night, on 116 123.
