Course Overview
The Counselling Skills course is designed to introduce participants to the fundamental skills and techniques used in counselling, providing a strong foundation for those interested in supporting others through effective communication and empathetic listening. This course covers essential counselling principles, including active listening, questioning techniques, and building rapport, along with an understanding of the ethical considerations in a counselling context.
Participants will learn how to create a safe and supportive environment for individuals to explore their thoughts and feelings. The course focuses on developing practical skills that can be applied in various settings, whether in professional counselling roles, social services, education, or personal relationships. Learners will also explore different counselling approaches and theories, gaining insights into how these can be applied to real-life situations.
By the end of the course, learners will be equipped with the skills to support others through effective counselling techniques, fostering personal growth and well-being.
This course is made up of four units:
This course is delivered at an introductory level and is designed to provide a foundation level of knowledge in counselling skills. Further study would be required to practise as a qualified counsellor, including in-person placements.
