What is the CSCS Green Card?
The Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Green Card is for people working in labouring roles on UK construction sites. This course gives you the award and the CITB test you need to apply.
Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in Construction
Includes one CITB test and the CSCS Green Card. Shows you understand safe working practices on UK construction sites.
Level 1 Award in Employability Skills
A second qualification gained on the same course, ready to add to your CV.
What you will learn
The essentials for working safely on site
This course gives you the essential knowledge and skills to work safely on construction sites. It covers the key health and safety regulations, safe working practices and risk management used across the construction industry.
You will learn to spot physical, chemical and ergonomic hazards, carry out risk assessments, use personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly and follow emergency procedures, so you can help keep your site safe and compliant.
Construction Hazards
Identify the physical, chemical and ergonomic risks commonly found on construction sites and the precautions that reduce them.
Risk Assessment & Safe Practices
Learn how to carry out risk assessments and apply safe work practices that protect yourself and those around you.
PPE & Emergency Procedures
Understand the correct use of personal protective equipment and the response procedures to follow in an emergency on site.
Legal Requirements & Safety Culture
Know the legal responsibilities that apply to construction sites and how to contribute to a positive, proactive safety culture.

Is the course really free?
Yes. There is no course fee if you are eligible: aged 19 or over, living in Brighton and not enrolled on another government funded course.
What qualifications will I get?
You will gain the Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in Construction, which includes one CITB test and the CSCS Green Card, plus the Level 1 Award in Employability Skills.
When and where does the course run?
Each course runs over two days in a row, from 09:30 to 16:30, at Ralli Hall, 81 Denmark Villas, Hove BN3 3TH. Upcoming dates are listed on this page.
Do I need to attend both days?
Yes. The course needs 100% attendance and your CITB test takes place on day two. Please arrive on time, as it is up to the tutor whether late arrivals can join.
