At Functional Skills UK, we know that supporting our learners starts with supporting our staff.

As part of our ongoing commitment to staff wellbeing, the team recently enjoyed a pottery painting afternoon during work time, giving everyone an opportunity to switch off, catch up and put their creative skills to the test.

The afternoon provided a chance for colleagues from across the organisation to spend time together away from their day-to-day responsibilities and simply enjoy some well-earned downtime.

A huge thank you to the team at The Painting Pottery Café in Brighton for hosting us and helping make the afternoon such an enjoyable experience.

Prioritising Wellbeing

Staff wellbeing remains an important part of life at FSUK.

Over the past year, colleagues have also taken part in:

  • Staff wellbeing walks
  • Step challenges
  • Walking meetings in our local Vale Park
  • Opportunities to get outside and enjoy some fresh air
  • Time away from desks to reconnect and recharge

These activities provide opportunities for colleagues to support one another, strengthen relationships and maintain a healthy work-life balance.

Staff-Led Wellbeing

Many of our wellbeing activities are shaped by the team themselves.

Following feedback from staff, Alfie took the lead on gathering ideas through a staff poll, allowing colleagues to choose activities they would most enjoy taking part in.

This approach helps ensure wellbeing activities are meaningful, inclusive and reflect the interests of the team.

Looking After Our Team

At Functional Skills UK, we believe that creating a positive culture benefits everyone.

By encouraging staff to take time out, focus on their wellbeing and support one another, we can continue to provide the high-quality, personalised learning experiences that our learners deserve.

Because sometimes the best ideas happen when you step away from the office.
