Participation and Development recognised as STRONG
Functional Skills UK is celebrating the outcome of its recent Ofsted inspection, recognising the hard work of its staff, tutors, partners and learners across the South East.
Following our Ofsted inspection in June 2026, the team at Functional Skills UK (FSUK) is incredibly proud to share and celebrate the outcome of the report.
The inspection recognised the quality of FSUK’s education and training provision, with Participation and Development judged as STRONG, an area of the report that the whole team is particularly proud of.
For FSUK, this recognition demonstrates that successful adult education is about much more than simply achieving a qualification. It is about developing confidence, communication skills, employability, independence and providing learners with the information, advice and opportunities they need to take their next step.
Celebrating the people behind the success
Following the publication of the Ofsted outcome, the FSUK team took an afternoon away from the usual day-to-day delivery to come together for a team meal and celebrate what had been achieved.
The celebration was an opportunity to recognise the enormous contribution made by everyone across the organisation, from tutors delivering programmes directly to learners, through to the quality, compliance, operations, finance, partnerships and management teams working behind the scenes.

“I’m incredibly proud of the whole FSUK team and what we achieved during this inspection. Ofsted inspections are rightly thorough, and the outcome reflects a huge amount of hard work that happens every day across the organisation.
Being recognised as Strong for Participation and Development means a great deal to us because it demonstrates that what we do is about much more than getting someone through a qualification. We want our learners to leave us more confident, better informed and with a clearer idea of where they are going next.

Building on the Ofsted outcome
While the team is taking the opportunity to celebrate the achievement, FSUK is already focused on building on the findings of the report.
We will continue to strengthen our partnerships with employers and local organisations, develop our wider curriculum and create training opportunities that respond to the needs of learners and communities across the region.
